Have you heard about Health Savings Accounts? This is the future of health insurance. I have had one for 4 years and absolutely love it. It is a High Deductible Health Plan designed to protect you against a catastrophic loss. Once you reach your deductible your coverage is 100%. You  also receive the discounted contracted rates with all of the providers. Doctors vistis, Lab & X-rays, emergency room, urgent care, hospital etc, rates are based on the contracted rate between your health plan and the provider.  These rates can be discounted as much as 20 to 50%.  An example of a family of 4 husband and wife age 35 in good health, high deductible  plan with a $5800 family deductible then plan covers at 100% premium $230.39. In another example a traditional PPO plan with $25 office co-pay and $1000 deductible premium is $562 per month. With the savings from the high deductible plan you can open a Health Savings Account also known as an HSA and contribute $300 per month into your HSA on a monthly basis. This contribution is 100% tax deductible, you can use this money for out of pocket expenses and this includes dental expenses. HSA account pays about 4% interest on the money and what ever you don't use in one year rolls over to the next year. Why send extra premium to the insurers every month even if your not using the insurance. You pocket the savings and use monies as you experience out of pocket expenses. Use your HSA to pay for RX, doctors visits, lab & x-rays.
